I am happy to announce that my fourth record, “Heart of the People” has just been nominated for a Juno Award in the Aboriginal Album of the Year category!
I’ve been very lucky to have a lot of help with this album, starting with the 195 people who pre-bought the album and supported me during the Indiegogo campaign, the NWT Arts Council, my partner Darrel and stepson Brandon who patiently support me through many weeks and months on the road, and of course the amazing team that made this album: Murray Pulver who produced/played/sang, JP Peters who mixed and engineered, Tony Raybould, Scott Tucker and Jason Burnstick who played, guests Tanya Tagaq, Lawrence Nayally, Leroy Betsina, Brent Betsina, Randy Baillargeon, Richard Moody, Marc Arnould, and Bart McKay, and finally Paul Yee and Travis Mercredi who engineered sessions as well. Also Debbie Peters with Magnum Opus Management who is a constant support and understands my choice to live in the north, and of course my family who have been in my corner since birth.
It is also an honour to be nominated with my esteemed and talented colleagues Tanya Tagaq, Digging Roots, Crystal Shawanda, and Tomson Highway. What a trip!!! This is going to be awesome.
